Movie Madness pt.2

Okay, I'm still going through the movie phase so if you're bored don't read this ;)

Some Kind Of Wonderful

I just saw this, like right now, and I gotta say wow :) Exactly what I wanted to watch....The story is clichéd but does that count coz ya know it was made on 1987 so maybe it wasn't clichéd at that time? I really really liked this movie, daresay I shall love it soon..because that's how it started with The Breakfast Club.

When I saw it, I thought it was weird but funny and now two days later I'm convinced I love it? What is that?? It creeps up on you and grows on you. You know what? Unlike the teen movies of today, these movies actually have some heart, and some honesty. I know it sounds corny but it's true. Sigh. Find me a Keith Nelson somebody :P :P

Atonement made me want to cry and the only reason I didn't is because I could see which way it was going and I didn't get too involved in the story. Otherwise, that would have been me sitting in front of the telly, a huge pile of tissues next to me, bawling my eyes out.

.
Na, I'm kidding. Only one movie ever did make me cry like a baby and that was The Notebook. No, I don't know why. So yeah, it was a well-made movie and all that, but it made me go aaaaarghhhhh! Why why why does a supposedly 'good' movie have to be excessively depressing and kill off a couple of people for good measure?? And the oscars encourage this in the name of good cinema. Well guess what? People go to theatres to watch movies for ENTERTAINMENT. They.
Do.
Not.
Want.
To.
Cry.
They.
Do.
Not.
Want.
To.
Watch.
Their.
Favourite.
Actors.
DIE.
Dammit!
Okay, I'm okay now. I feel better. Really.

Sense and Sensibility, very nice movie. Watch instead of the other movies of the genre which all inexplicably seem to star Keira Knightley. Go figure. Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet are perfect for their parts and so is Alan Rickman surprisingly. Who knew Snape could clean up so nice eh? All gentlemanly and stuff! Hugh Grant just looks confused for most of the movie though he gets all the funny lines.
Some actors nowadays whose popularity I simply can't understand include Keira Knightley, Kristen Stewart, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie....but yes that is for another post.

Saw some other random stuff, not really worth discussing. An education, another really lovely oscar-nominated movie. Do watch it. Really. You'll only want to kill me later for suggesting it. :P

Good night y'all

Movie Madness

Movies are on my mind people and I had to type this while it's still fresh! :) Really, I've just been watching random stuff on TV. And it's fun! So, in the past week I've seen 3 movies which I liked pretty well and bits and pieces of other crap which isn't really worth mentioning. Seriously if any of you ever see The Island coming on TV, run. Okay? I know, it's Scarlett Johanssen but still.

Now on the other hand, Penelope is a pretty nice movie. Guys may not like it(chick flick alert) but I know girls will enjoy it. Don't we all love the handsome guy-falling-for-a-girl-purely-based-on-her-personality tripe? Er I mean very believable stuff(read tripe). ;) But James McAvoy guys! He's really climbing up the hot list....my hot list at least :P In fact, he's way up there, just under Ian Somerhalder. Sigh. He's got really blue eyes, like really blue :) James McAvoy, I mean. Must watch his other movies. (Note to self, start with Atonement.) So yeah, I liked Penelope, Christina Ricci was cute too and it was pretty funny in parts.

Oh, and I saw Godzilla on TV! A little late in the day, I know but still, I enjoyed it. Probably shouldn't have watched it at 1 in the morning though, it kinda creeped me out. I still liked it though. Jean Reno was so funny as the French Secret Service guy who chews gum because he thinks it makes him look american :| and loves to drink coffee :D Also, Matthew Broderick was cute too as 'the worm guy' who never really screams in front of the bad lizzies at any point in the movie, now that I come to think of it. Basically, I thought it was funny and kinda scary and gross at the same time so definitely worth a watch for us creature-movie-lovers.

Finally, I saw Avatar in the theatre in 3D. Amazing, really amazing vfx. I'm sure everyone's seen it and loved it but don't y'all think the story was a little blah? Same old guy insinuates himself into enemy society with intention to bring them down but changes his mind and turns 'good' or whatever and then the evil guys-with-guns attack and kill innocents so hero must win back his credibility and save the day after the intermission. Deja vu baby. And the flying creature thingy choosing it's rider is so Harry Potter meets Eragon. Also, what's up with the plugging the braid into creatures and trees and random stuff???Weird. Anyway the movie was still really good. It had so much visual appeal, and shiny glow-in-the-dark stuff :D Don't you just love the shiny glow-in-the-dark stuff??

More later,

Bye y'all

The month that was

Yeah I know, I know, we're already well into march but I had writer's block, y'all know how it is!:P
Things I learnt-
1. Messing around with html.
We had dot net classes in college and the only useful thing I learnt from them was a bit of html, and I can now use this knowledge to mess around with the template of my blog:) How cool is that??
2. We get really good ice cream in college at the boys hostel super market:P The choco-bars are drool-worthy. Must stay away!
3. My college can sink to new lows. That's how we now have successfully completed a 'microsoft certified' course in dot net without actually learning much or understanding any of the questions in the exam.
4. It is damn hard to start work on a project. Getting the flailing-around-in-the-dark feeling.
5.Paneer and dosa actually go together...whaddya know??
Movies I watched-
I've sorta been watching random movies on tv, if the story catches my fancy and it's quite fun sometimes. With 8 English movie channels, I have plenty of choice:D
I saw The replacements and The longest yard which were both basically football comedy movies with the whole ensemble cast and one major actor thing. I like these movies though I prefer The replacements because they didn't kill off Chris Rock and Keanu Reeves is so much cuter than Adam Sandler. ;)
I made a brave attempt to watch Amelie but I tell you it was weird with the random- photograph-collecting and hypochondriac-selling-tobacco and amelie stalking some weird guy n I just got lost. Dayum.
The Condemned was a crazily violent movie in which they throw a bunch of criminals condemned to death on an island and the one who survives gets to live. In other words kill or die. I really don't know why I watched it. I plead boredom.
I can't remember any more that I watched and y'all probably wouldn't want to know after reading this eh?;)
Well I'm still partially blocked and I can't think of anything else to report. Ugh there should be some sort of a tonic for this...
More Later,

Bye y'all
