Dream a little dream

Dreams do come true! They do, they really, really do!
Okay, I don't mean the Prince Charming-on-a-horse kind of dream. Ew, by the way. I don't know what is so romantic about a guy named Charming on a horse(who rides a horse these days anyway??) snatching you up and riding off into the sunset. I should be very uncomfortable indeed. I think I would prefer a bike, or a car. And a guy with a less pansy name. Wait, I was talking about one of my dreams which came true.
I GOT TO SEE COLIN MOCHRIE AND BRAD SHERWOOD DO AN IMPROV COMEDY SHOW LIVE!!!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
Okay, so I didn't get picked for sound effects even though I waved my hand in the air and squealed(not VERY loud) "Ooh, pick me, pick meeee!!!", but the awesomeness of the show cannot be put in words. It just cannot. I love you, cast of 'Whose line...' dudes, I do. So much. Even though you didn't pick me for sound effects and picked the bald guy who could make a beer can popping sound but could not do a whip.:|
'Whose line is it anyway' always cheers me up, even when I'm in the blackest of black moods. Like, really black. I was so excited before the show, I was actually jumping up and down because I had to let it out somehow. Not in public, don't worry! :P
So, if there are possibilities of insane or impossible-sounding dreams coming true, then I better make up a list. So here goes-
Ten things I want to do before I die(subject to change and in no particular order)-
1. Meet Ian Somerhalder. Marry him if possible. Go ahead and laugh if you want but I'm sending signals out to the Yooniverse to help me( you know, that whole if you want something bad enough the universe conspires to help you-thing? er, something of the sort) and when I have the last laugh, don't be jealous! :P

Relax folks, I'm just kidding!

Well, mostly. :P
2.Do something bad-ass, like get into a fight!

3.Build me a swanky house with expensive furniture, fancy gadgets, lots of TVs, a video game room, and a bathroom like the Harry Potter prefects' bathroom. :D
4.World Tour!
Well, duh. Oh and stay only in posh hotels.
5.Do something crazy! I don't know, bungee jumping? Actually I'm too chicken for that:P
Ah, well I'll think of something!
6.Learn to dance the salsa, cha cha cha, tango, jive and waltz.(because more than this would be being waaay too optimistic)
7.Get a walk-in wardrobe. sigh. Picture it-sliding doors, white walls, dresses and shoes lined up on either sides, big mirror at one end, exquisite scents, the works!
8.Get a job with Dreamworks. Now that would be insanely amazing!!
9.Buy me a red Ferrari. Not that ugly Enzo nonsense. Maybe a 360 or F430 or something.

10.See Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie perform together live. Although, I don't think that's going to happen but ah we're talking dreams aren't we??

More Later,
Bonne nuit, mes amis!

Just Dance

I love dance(dancing and the art in itself). Not that I'm a great dancer...I'm okay you know, as in I don't have two left feet. Tis a wonderful thing, is dance. In the words of Osibisa-

"Dance the body music,
Makes you feel so happy"
Can't sum it up better than that!
You know how that awesome song plays on the radio and you just sort of unconsciously start mouthing the words and swaying a bit and then you're all "Oops, public place" and you stop but your foot is still tapping??
:D
Zat eez ze magic of DANCE! Okay, music too. But, you know, shoe and sock relationship.
Personally the songs I can't resist are Flo Rida's "low" and "right round", "Rise up" by Yves Larock, "Shine on" by RIO, Pitbull's "I know you want me", Shakira...aaah many more!
Like at the gym, I'm doing some lame stretching and suddenly "Waka Waka" is playing and I'm hard put to stay still! It is sooo annoying not to be able to dance when you so so want to!!!

In the same way, dance movies too have an effect on me. I inevitably hum "Time of your life" for ages after watching "Dirty Dancing" while imagining that I'm gliding across the floor like Jennifer Grey did.
After watching "Step Up"or "Center Stage" or one of those random dance movies, sometimes I feel I could slip into their shows and miraculously become an awesome dancer!! :D Then, I could pop and lock and er... jam? Is that correct?? Not to mention glide and twirl and prance and whirl...ooh I feel a rhyme comin' on!
To glide and twirl
To twist and whirl
Swaying gracefully
Like a billowing silk
Like a melody waiting to happen
Like the trees that whisper in the wind
Oh, wouldn't it be loverly???
:P:P
What??
I'm no poet!
Never said I was, so don't look at me like that.
* crosses arms defensively *
Also, my er "poem" reminds me of that Audrey Hepburn song from My Fair Lady-"I could've danced all night". Now that's a pretty song. Makes me want to make like a ballerina and fly away. Sure, ballerinas look like they're going to sprout wings and fly off any minute, don't tell me you haven't noticed!! They're so graceful and not-klutzy. Sigh. I bet no ballerina walks with a hunch or waddles a bit.
Ahem. Never mind. :P
Okay, so 5 dance movies not to miss-
Dirty Dancing, Footloose, Center Stage, Step Up, um did I mention Dirty Dancing?? :P
I probably missed some stuff out, but who cares??
Dirty Dancing!!
Good Night, mi amigos!

An Education

Warning: This post may contain inflammatory statements due to the writer's passionate and er generally 'pissed-off' feelings on the subject.

Everyone raves about the education system in India and how smart Indians are. Personally, I think we need some SERIOUS changes around here. Kids are trained from childhood to compete, get 'good' marks and top. (Do you know that kindergarten fees are skyrocketing to crazy amounts like 1 lac? I also read something about toddlers listening to Beethoven and stuff. ).But, I'm telling you, from what I've seen, the education system is all about only one thing.
MONEY.
People lose their childhood because first they are studying and taking tuitions to top in 10th, then for 12th, then a fancy engineering college(oh yeah, you know which one I'm talking about) or whatever. In fact, as most of us know, the training starts from 8th grade to get into a coaching center after 10th grade which will then train you to get into above-mentioned fancy engineering college. There are so many supposedly 'great' coaching centers around, promising excellent results. They're more like torture chambers. Mental torture, that is.

Assignments.
Unit test.
Some other God-forsaken test.
Some more assignments.
Class tests.
Oh, look! Another test!
How about some fun? Hell, no! Write another test.
Sports? What's that?

Jesus. It's like a nut-farm. They're all obsessed.
Arre sab first aayenge kya??
All these institutes have but one goal. Show better results, and therefore make more money.
They're like factories which want to make zombies out of us. All the same. All toppers.
It's the same in college. They only teach you how to pass exams. Knowledge, who needs it? Read whatever is enough for the exam. What's alarming is I'm starting to think that way too. And that's how I am a 2nd year BTech student with not much knowledge in my subject and not much drive to learn either. Because when learning is all about text books with their unintelligible babble, who's interested? We mug, we remember for 24 hours, write the exam and forget.
I wish we could get a real education. Not the bookish sort, the kind which makes us grow as people, not only in mugging capacity. More of practical stuff, less tests, less pressure, no endless boredom.
I wish I had done so many things I never did. I wish I had not been so obsessed about topping all the time. I wish I had evaluated my options and figured out what I wanted instead of blindly jumping on the IIT bandwagon(which anyway was a huge failure). I wish I had spent more time having fun and going out(not like I studied but still.) I wish people would make more movies like 3 idiots so the next Gen kids don't get enrolled in the robot factories.
I am going to stop now because I am THIS close to quoting 'Give me some sunshine' from 3 idiots.

All I'm saying is, this sucks. We should be able to have fun while we're young. The system needs a HUGE makeover. Degrees right now are meaningless. Everybody gets one. It's not at all hard. The point is what knowledge will we have at the end of this charade? I guess the joke's on me. Study all your life and you're still no closer to being knowledgeable. I should have woken up sooner.

Ah whatever, like I said, it just sucks. Who's going to give me my teenage years back? Supposedly the best time of one's life, mine was spent in a rat race for a piece of cheese which wasn't enough to feed even 1/10th of the rats. From now on, no freaking out much over exams and grades and stuff.
I am SO over it.
*blows a raspberry*

Movies, books, friends, fun, life.

It is time to LIVE!

p.s. I should change the blog name to The disconnected ramblings of a confused, lost, disgruntled, and moody soul. :|

A new year,a new me....(hopefully)

So here's 2010 at last and I am mighty glad of it. 2009 really pissed me off for various reasons. But you know what, I have great hopes for 2010....I just have a feeling that it's going to be different. I want it to be different. I want to BE different. I want to be SOMETHING.

So here's the plan:
1) I am going to try new kinds of food. I have already developed a liking for pasta, a food group which I never thought much of before(is it a food group? I'm sure it is to italians) and i gotta say...I LIKE it! I am also going to learn how to cook; not boring stuff like rotis n all but interesting stuff like.. er...pasta!
2) I am going to find out by the end of this year, what exactly it is that I wish to do in life. I need to find out if I have an aptitude for a career in animation..
3)I am going to watch different kinds of movies. I have already tried a few and it's quite refreshing...I used to always watch those silly rom-coms but post 500 days of summer, becoming jane, oceans eleven and julie and julia, I feel quite changed :P
(btw, this does not mean I don't still love those silly rom-coms:))
4)By the end of this year I will have advanced my knowledge in the field of computer science, either through an internship or through classes...n I will do it!
5) I will not give up halfway on stuff...like this blog for instance. I SHAN'T abandon it.

So there it is...My year-long plan.. What do you think non-existent readers? " I don't think she'll go through with it"? Hah well I'll show you, I will. I am going to decribe my progress or lack-thereof right here and lets see how it goes. I will not let this be just a product of weekend boredom. It will be THE product of weekend boredom!
Igor, pull the switch!

More later,
Determined not to quit....
